A letter to my keys

Dear keys,

I know that I treated you poorly, keeping you close by my side and never allowing you space to breathe.  And, I know that those few times I did leave your side, it was only with the assurance that you were hanging on your special hook on the wall.

You wanted your freedom, and you took it.  You left me, and now I am bereft.  I only wish I had treated you better. Or chained you up better.

Please return to me, oh Keys.  I never knew how much you meant to me until I tried to yell "clean up" at a gym full of running, screaming, 3rd-10th graders.

I need you.  I do.  And, if you return to me, I promise I will treat you better.

I promise.

Sincerely,
Me.

I'm not a loser!

I don't normally lose things.  I am pretty chaotically organized.  Everything has it's spot, but sometimes that spot is in this pile over here under this other important thing.  I know where things are.  (Unless it is a whiteboard marker in my classroom.  I am constantly walking around the room with them and leaving them at kids' desks).  All of this wonderful organization counts for naught when you can't find something as simple as your keys.

Guys, I NEVER lose my keys, my wallet or my phone.  NEVER!
ok, I can't say that anymore can I, because I have lost my keys.

I could deal if they were my personal keys.  We could copy Jeremy's (actually I think we have an extra copy of each key in the house already) and everything would be hunky-dunky.  But this is not the problem.

I have lost my school keys.
My SCHOOL KEYS!

That means that somewhere out there (hopefully lost in my house) is a key to GET INTO ALMOST ANY BUILDING AND ROOM IN THE SCHOOL!!!!

Also, I am sick and have lost my voice and it is really hard to get kids to clean up at recess time if you have no whistle (also on my keys) and no voice.

Mostly, though, I am afraid of what it means for the school, because in addition to being on a black shoe-string-type lanyard, and having my whistle and A BILLION keys on it, it also has my school ID on it which tells ner-do-wellers that these keys can unlock things at MY school.

My school may have to re-key all but one lock.  NOT GOOD!!!!
so
if you could please
Pray
That my keys show up somewhere in my house or classroom (which would make me look like a total biscuit brain, but I'll take it in favor of my keys) that would be amazing.

Thank you all
