Of Murder, Mystery, and Magic
I had the best birthday party ever, last night. It was amazing!!!! So my dear friend Trout threw me a Murder Mystery dinner birthday party. And I found out almost EVERYTHING! On top of that, I got to be an outrageous flirt and was the reincarnation of an ancient Egyptian Queen who was trying to keep her husband (the evil Pharaoh from coming back to life and taking over the world. I was POSESSED!!!! And I got to faint, twice! SOOOOOOOOO FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Then, at the end, they sang me Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star for my birthday song!!!!11 It was beautiful!!!!
SOOOOOO HAPPY!!!!!
30, here I come!!!
(P.S. My friends are amazing, esp. Trout, who was packing up her apartment during the planning process, and moved and cleaned her apartment the day before!)

Wonder...
Ok, my God, Ok.
I sit here and just think--ok.
I don't know what this means--what the big message behind this is, but ok.
and wow...
Well, God knows, but future me (and anyone who reads this blog) will be reading this, wondering what I'm talking about so...
my keys
so small
such a small thing.
I've already had them replaced---
A man came in and returned them to me. Apparently he lives in my apartment complex and he found them somewhere in the parking lot. They had my school ID on them, so he brought them into the school this afternoon.
And that IS wonderful, but it is not what makes me sit here in WONDER.
I asked
I asked
As James suggested, I searched my motives
After no answer, I admitted defeat
I questioned God
I believed he COULD
I didn't believe he WOULD.
And then my period came
and I cried.
Not for long
not in agony,
but I cried,
and I counted my blessings
Then,
I prayed for my child
believing that one way or another God WOULD bless me with a child
I prayed for her, for her heart and her soul,
and for me
That I would become the mother she needed,
The mother God meant me to be.
I had NO DOUBT that God Would give me my child.
I was sad, but full of hope.
Ready to wait.
And God gave me my keys.
I sit here and just think--ok.

A letter to my keys
Dear keys,
I know that I treated you poorly, keeping you close by my side and never allowing you space to breathe. And, I know that those few times I did leave your side, it was only with the assurance that you were hanging on your special hook on the wall.
You wanted your freedom, and you took it. You left me, and now I am bereft. I only wish I had treated you better. Or chained you up better.
Please return to me, oh Keys. I never knew how much you meant to me until I tried to yell "clean up" at a gym full of running, screaming, 3rd-10th graders.
I need you. I do. And, if you return to me, I promise I will treat you better.
I promise.
Sincerely,
Me.

I'm not a loser!
I don't normally lose things. I am pretty chaotically organized. Everything has it's spot, but sometimes that spot is in this pile over here under this other important thing. I know where things are. (Unless it is a whiteboard marker in my classroom. I am constantly walking around the room with them and leaving them at kids' desks). All of this wonderful organization counts for naught when you can't find something as simple as your keys.
Guys, I NEVER lose my keys, my wallet or my phone. NEVER!
ok, I can't say that anymore can I, because I have lost my keys.
I could deal if they were my personal keys. We could copy Jeremy's (actually I think we have an extra copy of each key in the house already) and everything would be hunky-dunky. But this is not the problem.
I have lost my school keys.
My SCHOOL KEYS!
That means that somewhere out there (hopefully lost in my house) is a key to GET INTO ALMOST ANY BUILDING AND ROOM IN THE SCHOOL!!!!
Also, I am sick and have lost my voice and it is really hard to get kids to clean up at recess time if you have no whistle (also on my keys) and no voice.
Mostly, though, I am afraid of what it means for the school, because in addition to being on a black shoe-string-type lanyard, and having my whistle and A BILLION keys on it, it also has my school ID on it which tells ner-do-wellers that these keys can unlock things at MY school.
My school may have to re-key all but one lock. NOT GOOD!!!!
so
if you could please
Pray
That my keys show up somewhere in my house or classroom (which would make me look like a total biscuit brain, but I'll take it in favor of my keys) that would be amazing.
Thank you all

Tired, excited, stressed, etc.
I am tired:
I am tired because this is the last week of the quarter and I have been grading corrections every day until around 9:00pm.
I am tired because I haven't been sleeping well.
I am tired because...
I am excited:
I am excited because it is a 4 day week this week (with kids, I still have to go in on Friday)
I am excited because it is a 4 day week next week (with kids, but conferences are next week on Thursday and Friday)
I am excited because it is a 4 day week the week after, and then we have a whole week off after that.
I am excited because next week we begin making pumpkin pie.
I am excited because...
I am stressed:
I am stressed because we only have two weeks before Thanksgiving break (and there are only 4 days in each one).
I am stressed because after Thanksgiving we will only have three weeks left until our Christmas Program
I am stressed because I am in charge of the music for our Christmas Program (which is also exciting) and have been working hard getting the music together for it (which has made me tired).
I am stressed because I have one in-service day to do 3 days worth of things, and I have two meetings that day.
I am stressed because my house is a disaster (I am not sure if you know what DISASTER means, perhaps you should look it up in the dictionary--it describes my house)
I am stressed...
I am stressed because I am tired.
What stresses me also excites me.
Oh help
crazy me.

My own website
So, with the whole Blogging thing, I also became intregued with the idea of having my own classroom website, where parents can see homework assignments and other things that are going on in the classroom. Here is a link to my classroom website. Tell me what you think.
